About Imam Wazir Ali                                                                                             Doctorate Degree Student in Clinical Nutrition, M.S., R.D., L.D.

Director: Mercy Community Center SE/SW, Imam: Houston Masjid of Al-Islam and Masjid Al-Qur'an 

A father, husband, student and friend Imam Wazir Ali is the Director of Mercy Community Center and the Resident Imam of the Houston Masjid of Al-Islam and Masjid Al-Qur'an.  Born to Imam Otis Kaleem and Marlene Ali, Imam Ali is a lifelong student and supporter of Imam W. Deen Mohammed. Imam Ali has been active in Islamic communities for his entire lifetime and has been active in the Houston Islamic community for the last 14 years. During that period he has served as youth activities coordinator, college outreach coordinator, youth education coordinator, adult education coordinator, community activity coordinator and Imam. During that period he also served as the assistant to Imam Qasim Ahmed at the Islamic Learning Institute. During his tenure at the Islamic institute he co-translated the book “Selected Khutbah Introductions” with Imam Qasim Ahmed.

Imam Ali brings a unique style to his presentations and lectures.  He has lectured at schools, churches, prisons, drug rehabilitation centers, college campuses, masajid and other venues in various cities around the nation. Imam Ali presents workshops on Qur'anic Arabic, Seerah (the life history of Muhammad the Prophet), the Qur'an, Nutrition and Wellness, the Qur'an and Breastfeeding, Leadership Taining and Development, Qur'anic Guidance for Business development as well as other areas. He has CD's and DVD's in distribution around the country.  In September 2006, Imam Wazir was honored to be the Master of Ceramonies at the Sunday public address of the Mosque Cares Sponsored Muslim Convention.  He has been a featured speaker at various Islamic conferences and he has presented workshops at various national Islamic conventions.

Imam Ali a Kinesiologist and a registered and licensed dietitian founded Community Nutrition Outreach Services (CNOS) in 1998. Based in Houston, CNOS provides a wide range of nutrition consulting services including: individual counseling, group counseling, institutional consulting services, workshops and seminars. CNOS currently provides consulting services to dialysis clinics, nursing homes, school districts, home health organizations and hospice services. Imam Ali is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey, holds a Master's Degree in Kinesiology from The University of Texas Pan American, a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and in Psychology from the University of Houston and an Associate of General Studies degree from Houston Community College.
